Preparation:
Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this may lead to uneven cooking. The air fryer I use can hold comfortably four large eggs.
Puncture the tip of each egg with a pin or a needle. This will help prevent the eggs from cracking while cooking, and also allow the steam to release.
Cooking:
Preheat the air fryer to 250 degrees Fahrenheit [about 120*C] for 3-5 minutes, and leave the eggs in the air fryer for 16 minutes.
The timing may vary based on the make and model of the air fryer, so check your owner’s manual or experiment with different times to find the sweet spot.
Cooling:
Once ready, immediately remove the eggs from the air fryer, and place them in an ice bath for 3-5 minutes. You can prepare the ice bath with ice cubes and water in a large bowl.
This will stop the cooking process, and also make it easier to peel the eggs.
Peeling:
Gently crack the shell of the egg, and start peeling from the large end, where the air pocket is, as this will make it easier to peel.
If the shell is difficult to remove, try peeling them under running water, which will release the egg from the shell.
Serve:
Slice or chop your hard boiled eggs for a delicious breakfast, snack, or dinner.
You can even make deviled eggs with this recipe. Add some salt, pepper, and a dash of paprika for flavor.
- The air fryer cooking time will vary based on your preference for the yolk. If you want a creamier yolk, adjust the cooking time to 12-13 minutes, whereas if you want a harder yolk, increase it to 16-18 minutes.
- Don’t forget to puncture the eggs! This is an integral part of the recipe.
