Ingredients

Fenugreek Powder Substitute

  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder

Substitute for Fenugreek Leaves

  • 1 cup mustard greens finely chopped

Best Fenugreek Substitute in Curry

  • ½ teaspoon Kasuri methi for every teaspoon of fresh fenugreek leaves

Instructions

Ground mustard and coriander powder mixture:

  • To make it, simply mix one teaspoon of ground mustard with half a teaspoon of coriander powder. Use it to replace 1 teaspoon of fenugreek powder required in your recipe.

Chopped Mustard Greens:

  • One cup of finely chopped mustard greens can replace one cup of fresh fenugreek leaves in any recipe.
  • However, mustard leaves are spicier than fenugreek leaves, so you might want to adjust the amount to suit your taste buds.

Kasuri Methi:

  • Dried fenugreek leaves have a more concentrated flavor than fresh ones, so you'll only need half a teaspoon for every teaspoon of fresh fenugreek leaves in your recipes.
  • Simply crush the dried leaves between your palms and add them to your dish to get that distinctive fenugreek flavor.

Notes

  • Try toasting the Kasuri Methi lightly in a pan before adding it to your recipes, this will help enhance its flavor and make it more fragrant.
