  • Onions: 1 cup of chopped leek = ½ cup of chopped red or white onion.
  • Scallions: Use one scallion for every two leeks.
  • Shallot: Use one shallot for every two leeks.

Other Alternatives

  • Sweet Onions: 1 cup of chopped leek = 1 cup of chopped sweet onion.
  • Garlic: Use one clove of garlic for every one leek.
  • Wild Garlic: Use one-half cup of chopped wild garlic for each cup of chopped leeks.
